Heckert Solar, one of the largest and leading German manufacturers of high-performance photovoltaic modules, has purchased two systems for its plants in Thuringia (LWD Solar GmbH) and Chemnitz.

Clean air at all times
Metal processing with lasers and plasma releases many different pollutants into the ambient air. Together with industry partners, the Fraunhofer IWS has developed a system that efficiently removes these substances from the air. The filter can be adapted to the various materials and substances released in each case. In the future, the technology will be used in other applications, such as additive manufacturing.
“Image analysis for everyone”
A multinational team from the Institut Pasteur in Paris, the Francis Crick Institute in London and PoL scientists in Dresden will develop solutions for distributed, accelerated image analysis that is accessible to end-users without programming experience.
New managing directors of Ebm-Papst introduced
Dr. Klaus Geißdörfer (47) takes over the chairmanship of the management of the Ebm-Papst Group with headquarters in Mulfingen (Baden-Württemberg). Thomas Wagner (62) takes over the position of deputy again after interim management of the company and as planned in advance. He is supposed to support Geißdörfer with the induction and, in his function as COO, actively accompany the ongoing strategy and transformation process.
Fraunhofer Vision organizes seminar on surface testing

Young researcher award for innovative theses presented
Clean water, the elimination of space debris, new methods for medical endoscopy, and more powerful lasers – once again innovative theses with a special connection to applied photonics were honored with the Applied Photonics Award, the young researcher award by the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering IOF. The award was presented to the four prize winners on September 29 virtually by Nobel Prize winner Reinhard Genzel as part of the Photonics Days Jena.
