The 5G Alliance for Connected Industries and Automation (5G-ACIA) aims to bring together various industries from the fields of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) and, among other things, develop standards for 5G in the industrial sector. This is intended to promote further technological development and facilitate collaboration between different IT/OT providers across industries and national borders.

René von Fintel, Director Products Business at Basler, explains: "We are convinced that 5G will be an important component in the further development of Industry 4.0 communication and IoT or IIoT connectivity. 5G will become an important wireless communication technology and standard in industry, opening doors for new use cases such as vision for mobile robots or for preventive maintenance. As an vision specialist, we want to help ensure that the ever-growing field of computer vision is taken into account accordingly."
