ZVEI: Brazil is a key market in the Mercosur region
Since the turn of the millennium, the Brazilian market for electrotechnical goods has grown by an average of 2.8% per year and is now worth 88 billion euros

Brazil, the partner country of Hannover Messe 2026, is the most important electrical market in South America. Since the turn of the millennium, the Brazilian market for electrotechnical goods has grown by an average of 2.8% per year and now has a volume of 88 billion euros. This means that Brazil dominates the Mercosur economic area, which has a total market volume of 100 billion euros.
In 2025, the German electrical industry exported goods worth 1.8 billion euros to Brazil, a country with a population of 213 million. According to Dr. Nikolas Keßels, ZVEI Head of Global Affairs, Brazil is becoming an increasingly important sales market. Automation goods and products from the energy technology and electromedicine sectors are particularly in demand.
The Mercosur agreement could further strengthen trade relations by creating the world's largest free trade zone. The elimination of high tariffs would facilitate trade and strengthen Europe in global competition. The agreement is currently being examined by the European Court of Justice.
