Zeiss Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology is expanding its production and development infrastructure to meet the growing demand in the semiconductor industry, which is driven in particular by artificial intelligence applications. At the Oberkochen site, approximately 25,000 square meters of additional space is being created for production and production-related areas. A new office building has already been occupied, and additional new buildings as well as a company cafeteria will follow in stages.

The expansion is part of a long-term investment strategy in key technologies for semiconductor manufacturing. These include high-precision optics for high-NA EUV lithography, solutions for the manufacture, qualification, and repair of photomasks, and wafer fab systems for inspection, metrology, and defect analysis. Advanced packaging applications are also being addressed.

Additional capacity is being created in Wetzlar, Roßdorf, and Jena, among other locations. Internationally, Zeiss SMT is strengthening its presence with a training center in Shanghai, expanded logistics operations in the U.S. and Germany, and the new Zeiss Innovation Center in Korea.
