UV-C calibration standards with accredited test procedure

Instrument Systems has been accredited for tests in the field of lighting technology to DIN EN ISO / IEC 17025 since 2009 and is now offering accredited testing of radiant flux and luminous flux with the “Goniospectroradiometry of optical radiation sources” procedure. This procedure has enabled the development of UVC-LED reference sources with traceable reference values of maximum precision for radiant flux and irradiance. These reference sources are used for monitoring and calibrating UV measuring equipment, e.g. the ISP-PTFE series.

How Apple balanced cost and performance with the iPad Pro’s miniLEDs

“After more than three years of hype, excitement, and unfulfilled promises, miniLED backlights are finally ready for prime time,” asserts Taha Ayari, technology and cost analyst at System Plus Consulting part of Yole Développement (Yole). And he explains: “MiniLED monitors, and laptops have been available since late 2020. Most leading TV brands are adopting miniLED backlights in their 2021 flagship models. The highly anticipated miniLED Apple iPad Pro was officially announced in April 2021.”

Visible laser beams in vacuum

A beam of light can only be seen when it hits matter particles and is scattered or reflected by them. In a vacuum, however, it is invisible. Physicists at the University of Bonn have now developed a method that allows laser beams to be visualized even under these conditions. The method makes it easier to perform the ultra-precise laser alignment required to manipulate individual atoms.
