Edmund Optics Appoints Ulrich Schneider as President of Advanced Manufacturing
Ulrich Schneider is taking over as head of global manufacturing at Edmund Optics. He will also join the optics specialist's Executive Leadership Team.

Edmund Optics has appointed Ulrich Schneider as President of Advanced Manufacturing. Effective October 12, 2026, he has been responsible for the optics manufacturer’s global manufacturing operations and is a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team.
According to Edmund Optics, Schneider has more than 20 years of international leadership experience in manufacturing and operations. His previous positions include roles at Schott, MKS, and Hella. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Edmund Optics since 2023.
In his new position, Schneider will focus on the further development of global manufacturing capacities. Edmund Optics has announced, in particular, additional projects and initiatives aimed at expanding capacities and international production structures. The company does not specify particular locations, investment amounts, or expansion targets in the announcement.
Schneider’s move into operational leadership also brings changes to the division of responsibilities within management. James Fisher, who, according to the company, had focused on building up the manufacturing business over the past 18 months, will remain Chief Corporate Development Officer and is expected to resume a greater focus on corporate development projects.
Upon assuming his new role, Schneider has resigned from the Board of Directors. According to the company, Edmund Optics is already searching for a successor to fill the vacant seat.
This personnel decision comes at a time when Edmund Optics, according to the company, is attaching growing strategic importance to its manufacturing business. The company did not initially disclose what specific growth initiatives are associated with this reorganization.
