During the general meeting of the VDMA Robotics + Automation Association, the members of the VDMA Machine Vision Division elected a new board. Mark Williamson, Managing Director of Stemmer Imaging Ltd, was subsequently elected Chairman.

The organization’s mission has stayed substantially on the same course its charter members envisioned over a century ago. The significance of the field, the expertise of the OSA founders, and the dedication of those who followed enabled the society to become a global forum for light science and technology.

On the 24th of August, the Photonics Finland spring-meeting elected the new board for upcoming two years, including a new chairman and deputy chairman. For equal and smooth decision making, every two years the chairman position changes between academia and industry. Now previous chairman Timo Vuorenpää from Senop handed over the position to Juha Toivonen from the University of Tampere.

UV technologies can be used in a wide variety of ways and open up possibilities for innovative and environmentally friendly solutions. In times of the Corona pandemic, it becomes particularly clear what contribution they can make. The association “Advanced UV for Life e.V. – Association for the Promotion of UV Semiconductor Technologies” is therefore committed to the goal of rapidly advancing such technological solutions and transferring them from research to application.

At last, pandemic rules made it possible for the elected board members to gather for a constituent meeting on August 4 and 5, 2021, at the EMVA member Zeiss Automated Inspection Systems' facilities. Of course, everyone is double-vaccinated, the EMVA emphasizes.
