The number of industrial robots installed worldwide has more than doubled in the last ten years. In 2024, 542,000 new robots were installed, with Asia accounting for the largest share at 74%. Europe and America followed with 16% and 9% respectively. China leads the market with a global share of 54%, while Japan and South Korea also remain important markets. In Europe, the number of installations fell slightly, but Germany remains the largest European market.
In America, the USA dominates, although it imports the majority of robots. The OECD and the IMF are forecasting global growth of around 3% for the coming years, despite geopolitical tensions. The long-term growth trend for robotics remains positive, with an expected increase in installations of 6% in 2025 to 575,000 units. An increase to over 700,000 units is expected by 2028.
