Stefan Schönegger becomes CTO at ABB Machine Automation
Schönegger has worked in various roles at Machine Automation since 2006 and has extensive experience in B&R technologies

ABB Machine Automation (B&R) has appointed Stefan Schönegger as its new Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Schönegger has held various roles at Machine Automation since 2006 and has extensive experience in B&R technologies. Most recently, he led the global Controls product group and has a deep understanding of customer requirements as well as close ties to industry partners. In his new role, Schönegger will drive the technology direction in automation, software and autonomous industrial solutions, with a focus on open ecosystems and partnerships.
Schönegger holds a degree in Electronics and Business Administration from the Vienna University of Applied Sciences and studied Renewable Energy Systems at the Vienna University of Technology. He takes over the position from Florian Schneeberger, who has served as Division President of the Machine Automation Division and CEO of B&R Industrial Automation since November 2025. Schönegger is looking forward to the new challenge and the further development of the technological direction at B&R.
