Siemens acquires EBM-Papst drive technology

Siemens has completed the acquisition of ebm-papst's industrial drive technology business and is integrating it under the “Mechatronic Systems” brand.

This acquisition expands the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio and is intended to strengthen Siemens' role as a provider of factory automation and digitalization solutions. With around 650 employees, the new portfolio includes intelligent, integrated mechatronic systems and innovative driving and steering systems used in autonomous transport systems.

Integration into Siemens' existing automation portfolio and global sales network opens up new business opportunities for intelligent, battery-powered drive and robot solutions. Achim Peltz, CEO of the Motion Control business unit, emphasizes the advantages of the new systems, which increase flexibility and efficiency in production. The acquisition includes sites in Germany and Romania. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
