Sick has acquired the Dutch technology company Accerion. Accerion, which specializes in AI-based image processing for the positioning of mobile robots, offers an innovative, infrastructure-free localization solution called “Triton”. This acquisition enables Sick to offer more positioning solutions.

The product development of the new subsidiary “Sick Accerion B.V.” remains in Venlo, Netherlands. Dr. Niels Syassen from Sick emphasizes the enormous growth potential of the market for autonomous mobile robots and the importance of new technologies for efficient supply chains. Vincent Burg, CEO of Accerion, is pleased about the synergies and the global scaling of the localization solutions. The market for autonomous mobile robots is growing by more than 15 percent annually and is worth around four billion euros. The acquisition strengthens Sick's position as a supplier in this field and is an investment in future-oriented, software-based applications.
