Process automation: slight growth in incoming orders in 2025

The oil and gas, water and wastewater and pharmaceutical sectors in particular recorded positive developments. While sales remain stable compared to the previous year, regional analyses show strong growth in the Middle East and India as well as positive developments in Asian countries outside China. Europe excluding Germany remains stable, while Germany and China are experiencing a slight decline due to challenges in the chemical and energy-intensive industries.

Axel Lorenz, re-elected Chairman of the Metrology and Process Automation division, is cautiously optimistic for 2026. He expects further growth in the oil and gas, water/wastewater and pharmaceutical sectors. Risks exist due to international tariffs, new regulations such as the EU Cyber Resilience Act and the shortage of skilled workers. Growth drivers could be global trends such as energy optimization, digitalization and sustainability efforts.

In addition to Lorenz, other members of the Executive Board were elected for the term of office from 2025 to 2028, including Dr. Attila Bilgic, Dr. Mirko Lehmann and representatives from companies such as ABB, Schneider Electric and Phoenix Contact.
