Around 80 representatives from science, industry and politics discussed the structure and objectives of the new network at the GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research.

The core of the project is the "Hessian Cluster for Sensor Technology" association, which aims to create stronger links between research institutions, companies and start-ups and accelerate the transfer of technology to industrial applications. Specialist presentations addressed fields of application such as space travel, energy-efficient sensor systems and edge technologies. The next steps for the coming twelve months were specified in a workshop, including the association structure, membership models and visibility measures.

The initiative is receiving political support from the Hessian Minister for Digitalization and Innovation, Kristina Sinemus, and the Lord Mayor of Darmstadt, Hanno Benz. The cluster is intended to cover the whole of Hesse in the future, promote national and international cooperation and strengthen the location for data-driven technologies, sensor technology and artificial intelligence in the long term.
