Fraunhofer Vision organizes 15th Technology Day

25.07.2023 - The next Fraunhofer Vision Technology Day will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, October 25 and 26, 2023 in Kaiserslautern.

The Fraunhofer Vision division is organizing the next technology day on October 25 and 26, 2023 in Kaiserslautern. Under the motto "Innovative technologies for industrial quality assurance with image processing", the format of the technology day offers a broad overview of the latest developments and solutions in image processing and optical measurement and testing technology. The focus this year is on artificial intelligence, because AI-based image processing is currently leading to a change and ushering in a new era for industrial quality assurance. Entirely new possibilities and areas of application are opening up where classic approaches were previously too expensive, slow, inflexible or inefficient

As always, the Technology Day consists of a lecture program and the accompanying trade exhibition and offers an opportunity for exchange and for making contacts.

Image processing and non-contact measuring and testing technology are used successfully across all stages of industrial value creation. Innovative technologies support the development and qualification of new products, serve to safeguard and objectify manufacturing processes and enable fast quality control loops in the production cycle.

Technology Day offers an overview and perspectives

Against this background, the annual Fraunhofer Vision Technology Day offers a broad overview of the latest developments and solutions in image processing and optical measurement and testing technology.

Since AI-based image processing is currently leading to a real upheaval and ushering in a new era for industrial quality assurance, the focus this year is on this complex of topics. Completely new possibilities and areas of application are opening up, especially in areas where traditional approaches were previously too expensive, slow, inflexible or inefficient.

In the context of short lectures, a wide range of possible applications for industrial production and quality assurance will be shown. The accompanying trade exhibition offers ample opportunity to intensify the dialogue with the experts and to establish contacts.

The planned spectrum of topics ranges from surface inspection, optical 3D metrology and high-frequency sensors to innovative technologies for measuring and testing under the surface. Many of the developments presented work with novel sensor technologies and use AI as a powerful tool.

Other current topics this year include trend analysis in production with optical surface inspection and rapid, large-area roughness measurement for use in the production line. Applications in the field of machine learning (ML) and the virtual test planning of 3D measuring systems are also on the program, as is the presentation of a mobile 3D scanner for quickly measuring objects or the hyperspectral analysis of material flows in the circular economy.

In the subject area "Measuring and testing below the surface" the focus is on new developments in different NDT technologies. Examples are high-frequency sensors for measuring process-relevant parameters under harsh industrial conditions, terahertz measurement technology for inline coating control of battery foils or the examination of concrete structures using computer tomography.

The Technology Day is aimed at those interested in image processing and optical and acoustic measurement and testing technology for quality assurance in almost all sectors who are looking for information on the practical use of these technologies in an industrial environment, as well as at representatives in the field of research and development.
