The European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) has appointed Werner Feith as the new EMVA Standards Manager. In the future, he will promote EMVA's European standardization activities worldwide, coordinate the development of image processing standards, and identify new areas of standardization in the rapidly changing industrial and manufacturing environment.

Werner Feith has completed a degree in solid state physics at the Technical University of Munich. After some time in the computer industry, he founded Sensor to Image GmbH. The company began as a frame grabber manufacturer and soon established itself as an IP specialist for FPGAs whose products support camera interfaces defined by the Gen <i> cam standard. Thus, Sensor to Image became and is the world market leader in IP support for industrial camera interfaces and supports the camera interfaces GigEVision, USB3-Vision and CoaXPress. In 2017, Werner Feith sold his company Sensor to Image. The position of the EMVA standard manager provides him with the opportunity to continue his career in the machine vision industry and contribute his extensive standardization experience.

For 15 years now, the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA) has been supporting the development of standards for the image processing industry with the now widespread standards GenICam and EMVA1288. GenICam standardizes the high-level interface between an image processing device and a computer. EMVA1288 is a characterization and specification process for image sensors and cameras used in image processing. With the Industrial Embedded Vision Interface Standard and the Open Optics Camera Interface Standard, EMVA has recently launched two more standard initiatives.
