Datalogic acquires Italian sensor manufacturer for 37 million euros
Datalogic buys the Italian sensor manufacturer Micro Detectors for 37 million euros. With its 200 employees, it becomes part of the subsidiary Datalogic S.r.l. The previous owner was the industrial holding Finmasi Group.

Through the acquisition of M.D. Micro Detectors S.p.A., Datalogic Group is expanding its product portfolio to include inductive and ultrasonic sensors used in industrial sectors such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, logistics and automotive.
By combining its portfolio and distribution network with those of Micro Detectors, Datalogic expects such a large additional growth potential that it intends to make Italy the "hub for sensors in the industrial automation sector."
Dr. Valentina Volta, Datalogic's CEO, adds, "The acquisition of an outstanding company like M.D., which has been active for decades in the design and manufacture of a wide range of industrial sensors, fits perfectly with our strategic path and allows us to further expand our presence in the industrial sensors market, which is worth more than 5 billion USD, by taking advantage of the numerous synergies that will result from combining it with our range of sensors, safety products and vision systems."
Based on preliminary figures, Micro Detectors and its subsidiaries forecast revenues of approximately 25 million Euros, EBITDA of approximately 4 million Euros and a positive net financial position (NFP) of 250,000 Euros for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2020. The company employs approximately 200 people.
Datalogic Group will meet the financial obligations arising from the acquisition solely with its own financial resources within existing credit lines. The transaction is currently expected to close on March 1, 2021, subject to the fulfillment of conditions in line with market practice for similar transactions.
