Zebra acquires machine vision company

The company is acquiring Photoneo, a developer and manufacturer of 3D machine vision solutions

This acquisition is intended to further strengthen Zebra's presence in the growing 3D machine vision segment. By combining Photoneo's 3D machine vision solutions with Zebra's advanced sensors, multi-vendor software and AI-based image processing, customers will benefit even more from the portfolio, which covers demanding use cases such as bin picking, depalletizing, digital twins and object inspection in automotive manufacturing and logistics.

Photoneo's intelligent sensors are particularly effective in the vision-guided robotic (VGR) segment, offering faster, more accurate and more robust solutions through parallel structured light technology. The acquisition complements Zebra's existing portfolio, which was expanded by the acquisition of Matrox Imaging in 2022. Zebra expects the transaction to close in the first quarter of 2025. Financial details will not be disclosed.
