VDMA expects sales growth of 10 percent for 2023

Electrical Automation expects a 10 percent increase in sales in 2023.

In the first nine months of the current year, incoming orders in electrical automation rose by 12 percent in real terms. Turnover increased by 8 per cent in real terms in the same period. So far this year, demand in the automation industry has been boosted in particular by catch-up effects. The development of turnover was restrained in comparison. “For 2023, we expect a nominal increase in sales of plus 10 per cent compared to 2022,” predicts Jörg Freitag, Chairman of the Board of VDMA Electrical Automation. Industry representatives continue to be concerned about the limitations in the availability of materials for electronic components to complete orders.

New edition of the industry guide Electrical Automation

The VDMA Electrical Automation publishes the 13th edition of its industry guide on 8 November. The publication helps companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector to find the right partner among the members organised in the VDMA for their automation tasks. “With our industry guide, we provide an overview of which automation technology product groups and in which mechanical engineering sectors our members specialise. This enables companies to find the right partner when looking for automation solutions,” explains Florian Löber, the responsible technical expert at VDMA Electrical Automation.

The VDMA represents around 3,500 German and European companies in the mechanical and plant engineering sector. The companies employ around four million people in Europe, more than one million of them in Germany. Mechanical and plant engineering represents a European sales volume of around 800 billion euros. In the entire manufacturing sector, it contributes the highest share to the European gross domestic product with a value added of around 270 billion euros.
