SPS 2021 canceled
According to the organizer, the 2G-Plus regulation and maximum visitor limit make implementation impossible
Despite the short-term cancellations of some large and important exhibitors, the trade fair operator Mesago stuck to the SPS 2021 as a physical presence event in hybrid format for a long time. But now the rejection. According to the organizers, more than 700 exhibitors were recently represented on site.
You would have wanted to offer visitors a wide range of everything to do with smart and digital automation. In addition, the hygiene concept was geared towards the maximum safety of those involved due to the galloping infection process. The situation recently left the organizers no choice but to cancel.
On their website, the organizers announce that "the face-to-face fair in Nuremberg and the digital supplement, which should take place from November 23rd to 25th, 2021", according to the announcement of the Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Markus Söder was canceled at the press conference on November 19. "In addition to the increasing number of infections and hospitalization rates, the new 2G Plus regulation and the upper limits set for events make it impossible to carry out the SPS," the organizers continued.
Martin Roschkowski, Managing Director of Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH, says: “We very much regret this decision, but in view of the dynamically deteriorating situation and the more stringent requirements, we are forced to cancel this year's industry meeting point. Our goal was to create the best possible business platform under the safest conditions with the SPS 2021. We know how important the SPS is for our customers and partners, especially this year. Unfortunately, despite the constantly improved security measures, implementation will not be possible. ”At the same time, the digital addition" SPS on air "was completely canceled for organizational reasons that were not specified.
In the past few weeks, the Mesago trade fair has tightened the hygiene concept and the prerequisites for participation in the face-to-face events. From the 3G regulation that was common up until then, it went through a few intermediate stations to a strict 2G regulation for visitors, with simultaneous compliance with the mask requirement and a safety distance of 1.5 m. Nevertheless, some real heavyweights of the automation industry had their participation in the Presence event of the SPS withdrawn.
And appropriate caution was actually required: In some districts of Bavaria, the incidence values were recently over 1000 - and the trend is rising. Therefore, the Bavarian government declared a disaster for the third time since the beginning of the corona pandemic on November 11th. At the same time, the Corona traffic light in Bavaria has been red since November 9th. This means that by this point at the latest, over 80 percent of the intensive care beds have been reported as occupied. The Robert Koch Institute also recommended avoiding large indoor events.
