SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, has recognized 40 new members as Fellows of the Society in the 2026 cohort. These new Fellows were honored for their achievements and contributions to the optics and photonics community and to SPIE. Since the Society was founded in 1955, more than 1,800 members have been named Fellows. This year's honorees are leaders in academia, industry and government who have distinguished themselves through their support of the optics and photonics community and the advancement of others.

Dr. Peter E. Andersen, Chairman of the SPIE Fellows Committee, expressed his pleasure in recognizing the achievements and contributions of the new Fellows. The new Fellows will be honored later this year during an SPIE Symposium of their choice. The full list of 2026 SPIE Fellows includes prominent names from various institutions worldwide, including Antonio Ambrosio from Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Agnes Hübscher from Edmund Optics and Yasuhiro Awatsuji from Kyoto Institute of Technology.
