Solinide Develops Photonic Chips for Energy-Efficient AI Data Centers
Solinide Photonics, a Swedish deep-tech company and spin-off of Chalmers University of Technology, has closed a seed funding round of 4 million euros

The capital will be used to commercialize the patented silicon nitride-based photonic integrated circuit technology for optical interconnects and to prepare for scalable manufacturing.
Solinide’s microcomb chips address a key challenge of modern AI infrastructures: the energy-efficient transfer of large amounts of data between processors. Instead of racks with individual laser sources, a single chip generates multiple precise wavelengths simultaneously, allowing more data to be transmitted per fiber optic cable while consuming less energy. The technology is aimed at AI data centers, telecommunications, and other growth-oriented markets.
The funding round was led by Navigare Ventures and PSV Hafnium, together with Chalmers Ventures, Turbine Capital, Norrsken Evolve, and Almi Greentech Fund. The funds will be used for technology maturation, commercialization, and market launch, including the expansion of engineering and sales teams, the strengthening of prototyping capabilities, and manufacturing readiness in Europe to complement the European photonics and semiconductor value chain.
