The purchase price amounts to 5.375 billion US dollars. The acquisition has been approved by SBG's Board of Directors and is subject to customary regulatory approvals in the EU, China and the US. Closing is expected in mid to late 2026. The acquisition is part of SBG's artificial superintelligence (ASI) strategy and is expected to strengthen SBG's AI robotics business.
Following the acquisition, SBG's technology base will be complemented by existing investments in AI robotics to accelerate innovation. ABB will spin off its robotics business into a new holding company, whose shares SBG will acquire. The closing of the agreement took place on October 8, 2025.
