Siemens has acquired Aster Technologies to integrate Aster's design-for-test (DFT) functionality into its Xpedition and Valor software. This integration enables companies to prepare design drafts early in the manufacturing process and implement robust test strategies. The aim is to achieve faster defect detection, lower costs and reduced time-to-market, as well as improved product quality and reliability.

Aster, founded in France in 1993, is known for its software tools for the verification, assembly and testing of printed circuit board assemblies. Its product TestWay supports companies in DFT planning and implementation. The acquisition comes at a time of increasing demand for automotive electronics and 5G technology, which requires robust test solutions. With this acquisition, Siemens expands its offering of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) capabilities and strengthens its position in the global PCB market.
