The initiative develops open, interoperable standards for optical connectivity in next-generation AI data centers. The goal is to define standardized specifications for expanded beam optical connectors to accelerate the adoption of scalable, high-bandwidth and reliable connections in modern AI architectures.

Expanded beam optics is considered a key technology for hyperscale AI infrastructures. It offers high reliability, increased tolerance to contamination, simplified maintenance and benefits in high-density network environments. In recent years, Rosenberger has invested in expanded beam technologies worldwide and expanded its expertise in high-performance optical connectivity and manufacturing for industry and data centers. By joining the EBO MSA, the company aims to promote interoperability, shorten innovation cycles and support robust AI network architectures at scale.
