Robots: Between Hype and Reality

Humanoid robots, artificial intelligence, and modern image processing promise to bring about profound changes in automation. But which technologies are already ready for industrial use, and which remain a distant dream for now? Answers to these questions will be provided at the online event “Robotics, Cobots, and Trends in Automation” on September 30, 2026.

The focus will be on current developments in humanoid robots, collaborative robotics, and AI-driven automation. The speakers intend to deliberately move beyond the usual hype and take a realistic look at the state of the art. The program includes presentations on application and technology trends in humanoid robots, the development of cobots and automation solutions, and the role of intelligent sensor technology and AI-based image processing in robotics.

Special attention will be given to how AI is increasingly evolving from data analysis toward the control of physical systems. As a result, robotics, machine vision, and cognitive automation are becoming increasingly intertwined.

To conclude, experts from industry and research will discuss the future development of automation. Participants in the panel discussion include Dr. Werner Kraus from Fraunhofer IPA, Peter Nilsson and Jan Jarvis from Sick AG, and Ulrich Möller from Ulmo Consulting. Participants will have the opportunity to ask their own questions and directly compare different perspectives on technological developments.

The event will take place online and is aimed at companies that wish to align their automation strategy with current technological trends.
