PI inaugurates new company headquarters in Karlsruhe

Management and global corporate functions have already moved to the modern office building

Physics instruments have inaugurated their new headquarters in Karlsruhe. The company can now convert more than 1,000 square meters in the existing buildings into production areas in order to be able to better meet the high demand for the high-tech solutions. This goes hand in hand with the creation of additional jobs at the Karlsruhe location.

“PI has grown sustainably in recent years and the global demand for our products and solutions for high-precision positioning continues to rise,” explains PI CEO Markus Spanner. "By acquiring and moving to the new building, we are able to create space at the production site in Karlsruhe for the urgently needed expansion of capacity at very short notice." This also means a further increase in employees - at the Karlsruhe site and worldwide. As early as 2021, the workforce grew by a total of 170 employees, and a further 240 permanent positions are planned for the current year, most of them in Karlsruhe. "We are looking for positions in practically all areas, from production employees to engineers and scientists for research and development," Spanner points out. More than 670 people are currently employed at the Karlsruhe location.

Around 70 guests from politics and business were invited to the opening of the new headquarters. The Mayor of Karlsruhe, Dr. Frank Mentrup congratulated PI with the words: "A lively culture of innovation is part of Karlsruhe and PI makes an excellent contribution to this. It is a pleasure for me to observe and actively support the innovative strength and dynamic growth of PI in the global high-tech markets.”

The investment of around 10 million euros for the acquisition of the building as well as conversion and expansion work at the two Karlsruhe locations is part of the global investment package of over 63 million euros for further capacity expansion that started in 2021.

Karl Spanner celebrates 45 years of service

As part of the inauguration, the 45th service anniversary of the founder of the PI Group, Dr. Karl Spanner, was celebrated. With his creativity, he laid the foundation for PI's growth and success, emphasized laudator Brian Lula, President of PI USA. Even after his retirement from active management and the transfer of the position as CEO to his son, Markus Spanner, Dr. Spanner the PI Group as a valued source of ideas and mentor.
