Both companies, previously part of TecInvest Holding, are combining their complementary technologies to form a provider of industrial laser processing with a focus on process control and monitoring.

Blackbird brings expertise in remote laser welding, on-the-fly processing, scanner controls, and control software. Lessmüller complements this with optical process sensing, OCT technology, and in-process quality assurance. Under the Iqlase brand, combined solutions are being developed that integrate scanner technology, intelligent process monitoring, and precise sensor technology.

The existing brand names Blackbird and Lessmüller will remain in use at the product level. A joint technical sales team and consolidated service structures are designed to provide users with a single point of contact. Several laser laboratories equipped with various robotic systems and laser sources up to 12 kW are available for application testing and process development in industries such as automotive, electronics, and medical technology.
