Manufacturer in Taiwan uses MVTec software illegally

Authorities initiated criminal proceedings against camera lens manufacturer Largan in mid-April

MVTec believes it has been harmed in a case of infringement of its intellectual property. The starting point for this is the opening of criminal proceedings by the public prosecutor's office in Taiwan against the company Largan, listed on the Taiwanese stock exchange under number 3008, and its employees. Largan is one of the world's largest suppliers of camera lenses for smartphones.

In order to clarify the matter, MVTec is working closely with the authorities in Taiwan to find a solution that is fair for all parties. So far, Largan has refused to reach such a fair and amicable agreement. "There is clear evidence that Largan has used our software products illegally on a massive, deliberate and systematic basis and has thus infringed and continues to infringe our intellectual property. This is damaging both us and our fair-trading customers and putting them at a competitive disadvantage," says Dr. Olaf Munkelt, Managing Director of MVTec.
