Jenoptik to continue strong growth in fiscal year 2021

According to preliminary calculations, Jenoptik achieved total sales of 895 million euros in fiscal year 2021, an increase of a good 16 percent compared to the previous year. If the contribution to sales made by the sold Vincorion is excluded, revenue growth even amounts to around 22 percent to 750 million euros.

Jenoptik succeeded in achieving this strong growth in sales despite the challenging general conditions once again caused by the pandemic and a noticeable shortage of materials due to global supply bottlenecks. The sustained high demand in the semiconductor equipment industry in the Light & Optics division was outstanding.

Trioptics, which was consolidated for the full year for the first time, also achieved sales of around 100 million euros. Jenoptik Medical and the Swissoptic Group, which have been consolidated since November 30, 2021, also contributed to the increase.

Operating profit also rises significantly

Total Ebitda (including Vincorion) was 177 million euros, up 59 percent compared to 2020, driven by the good operating development and positive effects from restructuring measures. It also included one-time effects of around 30 million euros related to the acquisitions of Trioptics and Interrob, and PPA effects of around 2 million euros.

Orders worth 1 billion euros in the books

Confidence for the development in fiscal 2022 is promised by the continuing high demand. The strongest growth in 2021 was again recorded by the Light & Optics division. In total, Jenoptik received orders worth 1.07 billion euros in the past fiscal year, 45 percent more than in the same period last year.

Based on the good order intake in the 4th quarter of 2021, the high order backlog and the continuing promising development in the photonic core businesses, particularly in the semiconductor area, the Executive Board of Jenoptik is optimistic that it will continue to grow profitably in fiscal year 2022.

As part of the realignment, Jenoptik will manage the photonic core business in the two new divisions "Advanced Photonic Solutions" and "Smart Mobility Solutions". The non-photonic activities are to operate as independent brands - Hommel, Prodomax, Interob - within the Jenoptik Group in the future.
