Igus Expands Its Bicycle Line with an Electric Model
The new e-bike is designed for urban use and features a 60 Nm rear-wheel motor, a carbon-fiber and plastic timing belt, and a battery with a range of up to 120 kilometers

Igus is expanding its plastic bicycle portfolio with an electric model made from 50 percent recycled fishing nets. It is based on the Igus:bike, which has already been tested in real-world use and covered approximately 6,000 kilometers across 25 countries during a 1.5-year world tour.
The new e-bike is designed for urban use and features a 60 Nm rear-wheel motor, a timing belt made of carbon fiber and plastic, and a battery with a range of up to 120 kilometers. The frame, wheels, seat post, and handlebars are made primarily of plastic; metal is used only where technically necessary, such as in the suspension fork and brake system. Igus is collaborating with a Belgian partner that collects lost fishing nets, cleans them, and processes them into plastic powder.
Series production is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026, with a target price of around 2,500 euros. A non-electric version with an eight-speed hub gear is also planned.
