The Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) has opened a new branch office in the IPAI Spaces in Heilbronn. As a member of the IPAI innovation platform, the institute is strengthening its presence in the Heilbronn AI ecosystem. The aim is to develop flexible automation solutions for material handling and transportation. The location enables companies to experience the advanced developments at first hand.

The focus is on AI-based robotics for production, assembly and logistics, with a particular focus on robotic hands and intelligent mobile manipulation. These technologies are designed to make robots more flexible and usable with minimal programming effort. Moritz Gräter, CEO of IPAI, emphasizes the importance of the collaboration for European AI development. The new location strengthens the link between research and industry and promotes responsible AI solutions.
