British company Greaves 3D Engineering has developed the professional racing car simulator "The Ultimate Drivers Rig", which can be quickly folded up and stored in a flight case. This makes it much easier to transport to race tracks, trade fairs and corporate events. The simulator uses 45 maintenance-free igus components, including drylin linear and drive technology, to minimize maintenance and provide a realistic driving experience. The lubrication-free components also improve the simulator's environmental footprint.

When the flight case is opened, the chassis of the racing car simulator can be moved to the ground via a ramp using rollers. An unfolding process begins in which three 32-inch gaming monitors are folded out, offering an ultra-wide field of view. The driver's seat and pedal box can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically to simulate different driving positions, from that of an F1 racing driver to that of a rally car. Realistic feedback mechanisms in the steering wheel, pedals and seat ensure an authentic driving experience.

The simulator is versatile and was designed to save installation space and weight in order to keep maintenance costs to a minimum. The engineers opted for lightweight, compact and lubrication-free linear technology from Igus, such as the linear rails from the drylin W series. These enable low-friction dry running without relubrication, which improves the reliability and environmental balance of the simulator. The energy and data cables are housed in energy chains made of high-performance plastic from igus, which protect against uncontrolled movements and cable breaks. A total of 45 components from Igus are installed in the Ultimate Drivers Rig.
