Ams Osram sells its CMOS image sensor business
The company is selling it to the US semiconductor manufacturer Indie Semiconductor for a total of EUR 40 million

The agreement comprises EUR 35 million in cash and a vendor loan of EUR 5 million with a two-year term. The transaction is expected to be completed within the next six months, subject to customary closing conditions.
With the sale, Ams Osram is sharpening its positioning as a provider of digital photonics solutions. Future growth investments will increasingly focus on AI photonics, highly parallel optical data connections for AI data centers and display technologies for AR smart glasses. The divested companies hold assets that collateralize convertible bonds and senior notes; a significant portion of the proceeds is earmarked for the repurchase or redemption of these instruments. Indie Semiconductor is expanding its portfolio in the field of sensor-based applications with the CIS business.
