Ams Osram completes sale of Entertainment and Industry Lamps business to Ushio
The cash and debt-free transaction value amounts to EUR 114 million

Ams Osram has completed the sale of its Entertainment and Industry Lamps division to Ushio from Japan. The cash and debt-free transaction value amounts to 114 million euros. The step is part of a comprehensive debt reduction plan that the company presented in April 2025. The aim is to achieve a leverage ratio (net debt to adjusted EBITDA) of less than 2.
With the sale, Ams Osram is parting with production sites in Berlin, around 500 employees, associated research and development activities and the relevant intellectual property. Ushio, based in Tokyo, is an internationally active provider of optical technologies. In return, Ams Osram intends to focus more strongly on expanding its position in the field of digital photonics. The transaction is seen as a further building block for reducing debt and strategically focusing the portfolio.
