The sensor and measurement technology industry recorded no change in sales in the third quarter of 2024 compared to the previous quarter, but a decline of ten percent compared to the third quarter of 2023. New orders fell slightly by two percent compared to the previous quarter. The book-to-bill ratio of 1.0 indicates a stable but low economic situation. Thomas Simmons, managing director of the AMA Association, explains that stagnating sales and a slight decline in incoming orders reflect the tense economic situation.

Despite the challenges, the industry remains a reliable partner and looks to the coming quarter with cautious optimism. The industry's innovative strength and trends such as artificial intelligence and automation could increase the demand for innovative sensor technology. An export share of around 48% shows the dependence on stable economic and political conditions.
