CANopen Safety for safe controls
B&R has added the CANopen safety protocol to its safe X90 controllers. With CANopen Safety, data is transmitted in a safety-related manner in accordance with SIL2. The secure protocol thus makes a significant contribution to the compliance with guidelines with regard to machine safety.
CANopen Safety is available with a simple software update and does not require any new control hardware. After the software update, CANopen safety devices such as joysticks can be connected directly to an existing X90 controller from B&R.
Devices that are connected via CANopen Safety are configured in the Automation Studio development environment. Since B&R provides preconfigured software modules, no classic programming work is necessary.
