Steer-by-wire system presented

The first prototypes of the innovative steer-by-wire system are used as functional models in the new urban transport concept SRT (Super Virtual Rail Train) from the Chinese rail vehicle manufacturer CRRC / ZELC.

For the implementation of the electromechanical steering, Nabtesco and adcos have bundled their competencies and brought the first prototypes of the world's first steer-by-wire system for commercial vehicles to the test track or virtual test track within just seven months. The innovative drive concept consists of a cycloid gear specially tailored to vehicle construction, a specially designed two-channel motor, a control unit and a sophisticated steering algorithm and is precisely tailored to use in high-voltage e-mobility platforms. All safety-relevant elements are redundant. In total, each SRT has six steering drives that are coupled to one another and mounted on the individual axles.
