Uwe Ziehl is dead
The grandson of company founder Emil Ziehl passed away on June 6, 2026 at the age of 79
After studying engineering, he founded Ziehl industrie-elektronik GmbH in Schwäbisch Hall in 1967 and shaped the development of Ziehl-Abegg into a globally active technology group for fans, electric motors and control technology for decades.
An important step was the bundling of the family shares in a holding company, which enabled independence as a family business and high investments in research, development and production. From 2005 to 2020, Uwe Ziehl led the Supervisory Board and accompanied the strategic direction with a technical focus, for example by expanding the vertical range of manufacture with in-house plastics production and aluminum casting.
The generational change was prepared early on; his son Dennis Ziehl has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board since 2021.
