Optatec 2026 comes to a successful end
265 exhibitors from 25 countries presented solutions for the technical use of light

The focus was on expert discussions on current requirements in optics and photonics, for example in semiconductor production, quality assurance, sensor technology and life sciences.
A central format was the Photonics Talks, organized for the first time by P. E. Schall in cooperation with the industry portal optics.org (Spie). Presentations and panels covered topics such as photonics in security and defense applications, automotive sensor technology for autonomous vehicles, optical communication and quantum technologies.
In addition, the Photonics Frontiers Award 2026 was presented in six categories, including biophotonics, industrial laser systems and optical computing. A technology park addressed students and young professionals with information on study and career paths. The next Optatec is planned for May 9 to 11, 2028.
