New Head of Zeiss Research Microscopy Solutions

On October 1, 2019, Dr. Ing. Michael Albiez (43) has taken over the management of the Strategic Business Unit Research Microscopy Solutions (RMS) at Zeiss. In addition, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Management of Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH.

Dr. Michael Albiez follows Dr. Markus Weber (46), who was appointed Head of the Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology division and member of the Carl Zeiss AG Executive Board effective October 1, 2019.

Dr. Michael Albiez became a Chief Operations Officer (COO) member of the RMS leadership team in 2018 and head of RMS's Jena site. Prior to that, he was responsible for the Product Center Electron Microscopy. Under his leadership, the business volume and profitability of Zeiss electron microscopy developed very successfully. Since March 2019, Michael Albiez also heads the Product Center for Light Microscopy.

Dr. Michael Albiez (43) studied at the University of Konstanz and received his doctorate at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. At Zeiss he started in the development department of Carl Zeiss NTS GmbH in 2005 and since 2015 has been responsible for the Product Center Electron Microscopy. In 2018 he became a member of the management team of the Strategic Business Unit Research Microscopy Solutions and the management of Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH. This was accompanied by his appointment as head of the Jena site for RMS.
