Multimodal AI for intralogistics and robotics
The M-AIR research network, under the leadership of the Mobility & Logistics and AIR Artificial Intelligence Regensburg clusters, is now driving forward digitalization and automation in intralogistics.

The aim is to develop multimodal AI models that can be seamlessly integrated into existing and new intralogistics systems. The focus is on technologies such as voice control, computer vision, data fusion and digital twins. Particularly noteworthy is the use of large AI language models for interactive task description and process control.
Planned developments include voice-controlled mission definitions for mobile robots, intelligent path and navigation planning, adaptive bin-picking solutions and the retrofitting of existing systems. The network is funded as part of the Central Innovation Program for SMEs and aims to develop practical AI prototypes that prove themselves in real-life scenarios. The project will run for one year until September 2026.
