Mitutoyo, a manufacturer of measurement technology, has opened a new Semiconductor Competence Center in Dresden. Located in the Silicon Saxony semiconductor region, the center is intended to serve as a hub for customers, partners, and research institutions, with a focus on applications in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing.
With this new center, Mitutoyo is expanding its presence in one of Europe’s most important semiconductor hubs. According to the company, the focus will be on measurement technology, application support, and collaboration with the regional industry. On October 15 and 16, 2026, Mitutoyo will host an open house event where visitors can explore the new competence center.
Among other things, the event will showcase solutions for precision metrology in semiconductor manufacturing as well as the latest developments in research and development. These include applications of near-infrared (NIR) technology and work from the Mitutoyo Research Center, such as in the field of digital holography. In addition, systems for various measurement tasks in semiconductor and electronics production will be presented.
The company views the new location as a platform for professional exchange between industry, research, and development. Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss current challenges in quality assurance, process control, and testing methods with metrology experts.
