With the addition of an Indian site, Mitsubshi Electric aims to focus on drive and control technology for factory automation (FA). The company expects to start up the factory in December 2023. It is to be two-storeyed and 15,400 square metres in size and will be built on a 40,000 square metre plot near Pune, Maharashtra.

Mitsubishi Electric has been active in factory automation in India since the mid-1990s.  With the acquisition of a local manufacturer of FA components in 2012, the company was able to strengthen its local business structure. In addition to building a local engineering team, service and support capacities were expanded. Local production began in 2013.
