Machine vision subsidiary Realsense splits from Intel
Realsense, a company specializing in AI-based machine vision, is being spun off from Intel Corporation. At the same time, it has completed another round of financing.
Following the completion of a 50 million US dollar Series A financing round with strategic investors including Intel Capital and MediaTek Innovation Fund, Realsense is now an independent company focused on driving innovation in AI, robotics, biometrics, and computer vision.
The new capital will fuel Realsense's expansion into adjacent and emerging markets and expand the company's global manufacturing, sales, and go-to-market (GTM) presence to meet the growing demand for humanoid and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and AI-powered access control and security solutions.

"Our independence allows us to move faster and innovate more boldly to adapt to rapidly changing market dynamics as we drive AI innovation and the upcoming renaissance of robotics."
3D cameras for robotics
Realsense will continue to serve its existing customer base and pursue its product roadmap, including the Realsense depth cameras, which the company says are installed in 60 percent of AMRs and humanoid robots worldwide. The company also recently introduced the D555 depth camera, which is powered by the Realsense Vision SoC V5 and supports Power over Ethernet (PoE).
The company has over 3,000 customers worldwide and holds more than 80 global patents.
