Leuze celebrates its sixtieth birthday
17.07.2023 - Founded in 1963, Leuze now employs over 1,600 people and focuses on sensor and safety solutions in automation technology.
The Leuze company history does not begin with the birth of its electronics division in 1963, but as early as the 17th century in Eningen/Achalm near Reutlingen, southern Germany. Years later, when mechanical looms increasingly replaced hand weaving and cotton replaced domestic linen, the Leuze family took textile production into their own hands. "In 1861, our ancestors in the Lenninger Tal found exactly the conditions they needed to set up a mechanical cotton weaving and spinning mill," explains Helmut Leuze, shareholder of the Leuze Group. From these origins emerged a recognized textile company that has been successfully steered and further developed over generations through all the perils of time.
To prevent fundamental changes, activities were also started early on in other areas. This led to the start of Leuze electronic in 1963. With entrepreneurial courage and passion, the fifth generation is now driving the further development of the family company - together with more than 1,600 employees worldwide, the "Sensor People". “Success is always a team effort. This understanding of values is the basis and obligation for us to continuously develop our family business. Thanks to the active commitment of our employees and a long-term relationship with our company, we have succeeded in leading our company to its current importance". With these words, Christof Leuze, shareholder and former managing director of Leuze electronic, thanks the entire Leuze workforce.
In 2022, Leuze achieved sales of 322 million euros (2021: 258 million euros). This corresponds to an increase in sales of around 25 percent. The family business also has ambitious growth targets for the future. The high-tech company continues to invest in decentralized structures, in its sensor people and in new talent.
