Laseroptik hires head of R&D

Ehlers joins after 20 years at LZH

Early 2021, Dr Henrik Ehlers joined the German coating specialist Laseroptik in Garbsen. As designated head of R&D he is responsible for the future technological focus on processes and products aiming to strengthen innovation and strategical development. Key aspects are further improvements in LIDT, spectral performance and additional coating as well as metrology solutions.

Before, Ehlers served as head of the process development group at the research institute Laser Zentrum Hannover for almost twenty years. As a physicist dedicated to optical coatings, he gained extensive experience in all relevant fields of thin-film research and related laser applications.

Laseroptik’s president Dr Wolfgang Ebert states: “We are glad to welcome Henrik on board after so many successful years of fruitful cooperation as our external research partner.”

With an expert team of about a hundred employees, the manufacturer of high LIDT laser optics and coatings from UV to IR produces up to 180,000 coated optics per year for laser applications in industry, medicine and scientific research. (Source: Laseroptik)
