Laserline expands its management

Mechanical engineer Dr Claus Narr became the company’s third managing director in January.

Laserline, a leading developer and manufacturer of diode lasers for industrial material processing, has expanded its management team. Dr Claus Narr became a further managing director alongside company founders Dr Christoph Ullmann and Volker Krause on January 1, 2025. He completed his doctorate in mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University and, during his time at the Laboratory for Machine Tools, was group leader for production logistics as well as managing director of the RWTH startup myOpenFactory. Narr has been working at Laserline since 2011 and has held a variety of key positions.

Dr Narr started as an assistant to the management 13 years ago, supporting the management team in establishing the branch in Shanghai, China, and in expanding production and administrative capacities at the headquarters in Mülheim-Kärlich, Germany. He then took over the production of compact diode lasers, and later became head of quality management and service. Most recently, he was head of production and service. In 2021, he was appointed managing director of the new subsidiary Backes Electronic. As a member of Laserline’s management team, he will support the founders in managing the operational business.

“As founders and managing directors, we see it as our responsibility to position our company optimally for further growth,” emphasize Christoph Ullmann and Volker Krause. “We are therefore all the more pleased to have Claus Narr at our side, who is very familiar with all company processes and products and whose expertise and experience Laserline has already benefited from for many years.”
