Digital Technology Days 2026 Will Focus on AI, Robotics, and Quantum Computing
On November 9 and 10, experts from the fields of research, business, and politics will discuss the practical application of digital technologies. The focus will be on topics such as AI and humanoid robotics, among others.

How can new technologies be transformed more quickly from research into economically viable applications? This is the question that the 2026 Digital Technologies Days, organized by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR), will address. The event will bring together representatives from academia, industry, startups, and politics on November 9 and 10. Topics range from artificial intelligence and robotics to quantum technologies and cybersecurity, as well as climate-neutral mobility and the circular economy. Expert forums will focus less on basic research and more on the transfer and commercialization of new technologies.
One key focus is generative AI. Discussions will address why, although many pilot projects work technically, scaling them up to a market-ready product is more difficult. The focus will be on data strategies, business models, and the prerequisites for industrial deployment. Another forum will address humanoid robots. It will examine which prerequisites for their scaling and commercial deployment in Germany are still lacking and which parts of the value chain can be established here.
Quantum computing will also be examined from the perspective of concrete applications. Various architectures—such as superconducting qubits, ion traps, and neutral atoms—will be discussed in terms of their potential practical benefits. Other specialized forums will address digital battery cell manufacturing, open source, and Europe’s technological sovereignty.
The program also includes an exhibition featuring demonstrators as well as discussion sessions on technology transfer. The goal of the event is to shed more light on the technical and economic conditions under which research results can actually be transformed into marketable applications.
