Chromacity targets key industrial markets with AMS Technologies

Ultrafast laser company joins forces with key European provider of photonics technologies as it focuses on biomedical, semiconductor, energy and defense sectors.

Chromacity has formed a strategic alliance with AMS Technologies for the supply of its ultrafast lasers across Europe. Based in Germany, AMS Technologies is a leading European provider of photonics, thermal management and power technologies, particularly in industrial markets, which are a core focus of Chromacity’s business strategy.

AMS Technologies will promote and sell Chromacity’s range of fixed wavelength femtosecond lasers for biomedical imaging and semiconductor testing applications, which can benefit from the ultrashort-pulses and high peak power provided by the company’s lasers at 520, 920, 1040 and 1280 nm.

The company from Planegg near Munich will also promote the gas sensing capabilities of Chromacity’s range of tunable laser sources in markets such as oil and gas, environment, and defense. The company’s optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) generate laser light spanning the short to long infrared wavelength regions, enabling detection across a range of complex chemical signatures in solids, liquids and gases.

The two companies will also jointly explore potential applications in the field of quantum optics. Chromacity has already demonstrated photon entanglement capabilities, which are key to the development of optical quantum technologies, such as enhanced imaging, information, and communication.

Ease-of-integration, and system stability, are crucial for the development of OEM opportunities for industrial applications. “Chromacity’s high-performance ultrashort pulse lasers ideally enhance the broad photonics portfolio of AMS Technologies even further”, said Jan Meise, CEO of AMS Technologies, “We are pleased to provide our OEM and scientific customers with these high-end solutions”.

“AMS Technologies have been supporting the European photonics market with innovative technologies for over 35 years and are the go-to partner for key OEM solution providers. We are excited to be joining forces to bring our ultrafast lasers to these customers,” said Shahida Imani, CEO of Chromacity.

The two companies will join forces to showcase Chromacity’s OPO solutions on the AMS booth 203 in hall B2 at Laser World of Photonics, Europe’s largest photonics event, June 27–30 in Munich.
