AI in robotics: new trends and applications
The International Federation of Robotics (IFR) has published a position paper on "AI in Robotics" that highlights the trends, challenges and commercial applications

According to IFR President Takayuki Ito, AI is rapidly changing robotics by improving capabilities, increasing efficiencies and enhancing adaptability. Logistics and warehousing are leading the way in the integration of AI and robotics, followed by manufacturing and industrial automation. Here, AI and robotics play a central role in modern manufacturing strategies, for example in the automotive and electronics industries.
In the service sector, AI is used to support human-robot interaction. Robot and chip manufacturers are investing in "physical AI" that trains robots in virtual environments. Large technology companies and governments worldwide are showing interest in this "embodied AI". AI promises efficiency gains and a faster ROI in the coming years.
